Welcome to the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing at Hardin-Simmons University! We are proud to offer three nursing programs including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, and an RN to BSN program. Here at the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN), we are committed to preparing you to sit for the national licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse.
The Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing is a consortium of Hardin-SImmons University and McMurry University. PHSSN is the only intercollegiate program in the nation that serves two private universities. At Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, you will learn the art, science and spirit of this honorable profession. You will complete your core courses at Hardin-Simmons University, then apply for admission to and train at PHSSN for your rewarding career as a nurse.
As a member of the PHSSN family, you will be in a cohort of students from both Hardin-Simmons and McMurry who have completed two years of general education requirements, and have been accepted into our nursing program to complete the final two years of nursing education. On your journey to becoming a Registered Professional Nurse, you will have the opportunity to experience an introduction to nursing in some of the area’s premiere healthcare agencies, participate in interactive courses, perfect your skills in a state-of-the-art clinical simulation laboratory, and join nursing organizations. Our partnerships with community organizations and nurses will expose you to a wealth of expertise and highlight numerous nursing specialties.
At PHSSN, we are committed to preparing nursing students for Christian leadership and service throughout Texas, the nation, and the world. We look forward to meeting and working with you to help you prepare for an exciting career in nursing.
