The Presidential Search Committee of Hardin-Simmons University has announced the hiring of an executive search firm to assist the committee in the process of recruiting candidates for consideration as the 16th President of HSU.
The committee retained the services of RPA Inc., an executive search and consulting firm based in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, during their September 9th meeting.
With more than 27 years experience, RPA Inc. is a moderately-sized firm known for providing highly individualized searches and specializing in service to private, independent colleges and universities.
Dr. James Barnes, senior consultant for RPA Inc., will serve as HSU's consultant.
"After interviewing several Executive Search Consulting firms, we found that RPA met our needs for a firm that would conduct a regional and national search for the next President of Hardin-Simmons," said Dr. Michael Waters, HSU Trustee and Chair of HSU's Presidential Search Committee. "Dr. Barnes is highly qualified to lead this search, and we look forward to the process. We anticipate a three to five month timetable before we recommend a candidate to the Board of Trustees."
For the past nine years, Barnes has led over 45 searches, primarily for Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU)-related institutions. Prior to his role at RPA Inc., Barnes had a distinguished academic career, most recently serving as president of Indiana Wesleyan University for nineteen years before his retirement.
"I am quite impressed with HSU's array of academic programs, the marvelous campus and outstanding facilities, and the warm and genuine staff," said Barnes. "I believe HSU will be quite attractive to a number of very strong candidates."
