    1. Recipients of the $1,000 UIL Achievement Scholarship who also win first place in State competition will receive an additional $1,000, bringing the total award to $2,000 for the year. The maximum award is $2,000 regardless of the number of events in which a first place is achieved.
    2. If a student places first in the State competition, even though he/she may have placed 2nd or 3rd in the Regional I UIL Academic meet held at Hardin-Simmons University, he/she may receive a one-year, $1000 UIL Achievement Scholarship awarded by Hardin-Simmons University. Students must meet the qualifications as stated in statement #1 above.
    3. The UIL Achievement Scholarships may be used at HSU without regard to the academic major the recipient chooses to pursue.
    4. Scholarships will be awarded upon presentation of official UIL contest placement.
    5. The UIL Achievement Scholarship is tuition-specific but may be received in addition to other institutional scholarships awarded by HSU. (Tuition-specific awards may not apply to fees, books, room, and board.) Upon acceptance to the University, students are automatically evaluated for academic scholarships based upon college entrance exam scores and high school class rank. These scholarships range from $3,500 - $14,000 per year. These do not prevent students from receiving the UIL Achievement Scholarship.
