Dr. Raney Terrell Edmiston, assistant professor of education, certification officer and HSU new educator mentor, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Secondary Education from Texas Tech University in 1998. In 1999, she received a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics. Dr. Edmiston worked as a secondary teacher, technology magnet specialist and assistant principal in Lubbock I.S.D. for nine years. She continued her graduate work at Texas Tech University and graduated with a Doctor of Education in Educational/Instructional Technology (EDIT) in 2007.
Dr. Edmiston holds Texas teaching certification in English (6-12), Spanish (6-12), Technology Applications (EC-12), English as a Second Language (EC-12), and Principal (EC-12). She worked at Region XIV Education Service Center for five years as a member of the federal team in the Center for Curriculum Integration and Support where she was dedicated to assisting local schools improve educational opportunities for English Language Learners.
She is a member of various education-based professional organizations and HSU faculty committees.
Rooted in faith and family, Edmiston spends her free time being active with her husband, three sons, parents and extended family.
