International Student Services
At HSU, we are passionate in taking care of our students! Even before you step foot in Abilene, our staff is hard at work to provide the best educational experience we can offer. See for yourself why our international students are having the time of their life at HSU! Be a part of the HSU family!
Once you are enrolled, you are guaranteed to have a place to stay on our safe campus where you can easily access all our resources! HSU offers community residence halls, campus apartments, and campus houses all in convenient walking distance to classes, dinning halls, and student activities.
To learn more about living on campus, please see our information about Living on Campus.
All International students will be automatically enrolled in the University sponsored student health insurance plan; the cost of the insurance plan will be reflected on the student’s account. For questions regarding the insurance policy, please contact the Office of Global Engagement at (325) 670-1800 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
International students are allowed to work on-campus for a maximum of 20 hours/week. This can be a great way to start your work experience, build your resume, and help cover some of your expenses.
Once students have been accepted to a part-time position on campus, you will need a Social Security Number. Please contact the office of Global Engagement for further instructions.

We understand that transportation can be a struggle for international students. Therefore, we provide airport pickups, weekly grocery trips, church pickups and other special trips throughout the semester! If you would like to request transportation, please complete a transportation request form by clicking this link.
After graduation, international students are eligible to apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training) for 12 months or more depending on your degree. Please contact the office of Global Engagement for additional information regarding OPT!
At HSU, we care for more than our students’ grades. We care about their life, their personal development, and their walk in their faith. We provide mentoring for these students where they can be invested in and grow as a student, person, and servant of Christ.
