    Paul Harding

    Novelist

Paul Harding spent his childhood in Wenham, Massachusetts, a town close to Boston and not far from where he now lives with his wife and two sons.

He graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After graduation, he was the drummer with the rock band, Cold Water Flat (1990- 1996), which he helped form at the U. of Massachusetts. He recorded two albums with the band and toured Europe.

After the band fell apart, he enrolled in a summer writing course at Skidmore College, taking classes with the novelist Marilynne Robinson (Gilead). He did his graduate work at the University of Iowa, receiving his M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

He has taught fiction writing at Harvard, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and Grinnell College.

He is an avid reader of 19th-century novels, theological works (especially those of Karl Barth, 1886-1968, and John Calvin, 1509-1564), and physics.

His second novel, Enon, will be published by Random House in 2013.
