Hardin-Simmons Events for March ‘20

(ABILENE, Texas)— With the spring semester almost halfway over, a variety of activities continue across the Hardin-Simmons University Campus.

Below is a list of important dates to keep in mind as the month of March approaches.

Sunday, March 1

6 to 8 p.m. – JCPenney will be hosting a collaborative event, located in the Mall of Abilene, for all college students and alumni in Abilene from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene Christian University, and McMurry University offering quality professional apparel, shoes, and accessories at up to 60% off retail pricing.

Monday, March 2

March 2-4, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The Christian University Theatre Festival (CUTF) will be hosted by HSU Theatre students. Five colleges will be performing shows, attending workshops, and sharing meals as well as doing showcases and improvs during the three day festival. The festival will be in Behrens Van Ellis Theatre.

Tuesday, March 3

March 3-19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – A gallery exhibit will be held in the Hardin-Simmons Frost Center for the Visual Arts building for artist Joshua Gallas. Concluding the event will be an artist talk and reception at 5 p.m. on March 19.

Monday, March 9

March 9-13 – Hardin-Simmons University will be on Spring Break and return to classes on Monday, March 16.

Tuesday, March 17

7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – The World Famous Cowboy Band will play a joint concert with the HSU Concert Band in Behrens Chapel.

Thursday, March 19

7 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Career Services will be hosting another segment of its “Adulting 101” series, tackling special topics seniors may want to know during their transition out of college.

Friday, March 20

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – With the opportunity to meet current students and faculty in different academic areas, sit in on a mock class, speak with a Financial Aid Counselor, and learn about multiple special interest and resource areas on campus, Admitted Student Day is a special visit day to help prospective students decide if HSU is the right fit.

Saturday, March 21

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – The HSU Theatre Department will host their biggest event of the year, Starlight Extravaganza. The evening is a dinner-cabaret musical fundraiser for the theatre department’s Scotland trip in August 2020. With tables decorated in themes of various musicals, all theatre students will participate as servers as well as performers.

Wednesday, March 25

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – HSU will host the monthly meeting of the Abilene Association of Congregations. While the luncheon is free to attend, a reservation is required. For more information or to register for the event, contact James Stone at jstone@hsutx.edu by noon on Tuesday, March 24th.

Friday, March 27

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. – HSU Student Engagement is providing a 24-hour conference called Emerging Leader Conference to help guide students to become Christian leaders. The conference will be held in Logsdon Chapel.

Saturday, March 28

8 a.m. to 8 p.m. – The Emerging Leadership Conference continues in Logsdon Chapel.

Monday, March 30

8 a.m. to 9 p.m. – The Maston Lectures will be held in the Logsdon Chapel, Logsdon Reception Room.
