New Renovations in Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall

An important venue for the Fine Arts department, Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall has been renovated and updated. The Fine Arts department utilizes Woodward-Dellis, which is adjacent to Hemphill Music Complex, on a regular basis for a variety of events.

“It is our primary performance space for concerts, recitals, and musical events,” says Dr. Robert Tucker, Dean of Fine Arts.  The recital hall itself was in need of repair for quite some time and has been an issue for several years.  “The seats were falling apart, the tiles in the foyer and hallway were cracked, pitted, and coming up,” said Tucker. “We also needed to provide access for disabilities in both the seating area and the restrooms.”

Part of the Transformation 2020 program, the updates helped to fix these issues and more. The entire audience seating was replaced, restrooms were renovated, updates added to the foyer, and new electronics were incorporated.  An effort to improve the space aesthetically was made, with new carpet, new interior paint, and additions to the organ pipes.

Tucker added, “We anticipate greater interest in all our programs with a more inviting and comfortable space.”
