Money & Management Speaker Series Debuts in April

Four sessions will highlight key financial issues for students

A four-part Money & Management Series that begins in April is designed to help college students learn about important financial concepts that may impact them now and post graduation. 

The sessions will be held Tuesday evenings in April from 8 to 9 p.m. in room 200 of the Johnson Building. The series is open to the public. Students who attend will be entered in a drawing for a T-shirt to be given out each session.

“Our hope is that our student body will leave HSU even more prepared as they move into the professional world,” said event co-organizer Aaron Henry, a junior from Lewisville, Texas majoring in Political Science with Economics and Leadership minors.

The topic and speaker lineup is as follows:

April 5th: Stocks and Investing. Guest: Dr. Jud Powell from Edward Jones. 

April 12th: Taxes. Guest: Corby Flanagan from Condley and Company. 

April 19th: General loans, Student loans, Automobile loans. Guest: Evan Harris from First Financial Bank in Abilene. 

April 26th: Credit Cards, Credit Scores. Guest: Jesse Cardenas from First Financial Bank in Abilene.  

The series was developed by a team of students in the Leadership Program. Other students in the group are Luke Wells, Blake Graves, David Herbst, Sam Pennese, Preston Hillis, and Jack Griffiths.
