Library Holds Annual FISH Awards Reception

The Richardson Library held its annual FISH awards reception to recognize its outstanding student workers Tuesday afternoon.

Each student is nominated by a staff worker. Every year each new FISH award recipient has a poster designed to incorporate their favorite book and hung on the wall with a description of their library and campus involvement.

Along with the recognition of award recipients, the 2016-2017 Thelma Andrews scholarship winners were announced. This year’s scholarship winners were juniors Sylvie Uwimana and Hailey McNally. Both are Speech Pathology majors from Abilene.

“I was very excited to be a recipient for this award,” said Uwimana. “I’ve liked working in the library because it’s an easy work environment to get along with people. The coworkers are nice and it’s nice to be a part of that family.”

The FISH award was named after the world famous Pike City Fish Market in Seattle, Washington, which is known for its hospitable and fun-loving staff.
