Kelley College of Business Holds 27th Annual Queen Awards Program

(Abilene, Texas)  The Kelley College of Business held its Lowell W. and Mildred C. Queen Awards Program on April 14. The special fund was established in June 1989 by the late Lowell and Mildred Queen in memory of their daughter, the late Joy Carolyn Queen Russell. The funds are used to honor outstanding students from the Kelley College of Business by providing an annual awards dinner.  

Honorees were nominated and selected by the Kelley College of Business Faculty based on selection criteria that included scholarship, attitude, and the spiritual and leadership traits important to future success in business.

The winner of the Manual Flores, Jr. Business Policy Award was Madison McDonald, an accounting major from Bay City. The winner of the John Wood Award in Business Ethics was Caroline Stanley, an accounting major from Houston. Zachary Carmichael, a finance major with a leadership studies minor, was awarded the W. Willard Pratt Endowed Scholarship in Business and Leadership. Jamie Ball, a marketing major from Oak Point, was awarded the Dean’s Award. 

The Koreen and Lee Hemphill Outstanding Service Award went to J. Braxton Gately, an economics major from Boerne, and Kyle Gopffarth, an accounting major from Keller. The Delta Mu Delta Outstanding Educator of the Year Award went to Mrs. Shaylee Piland.  The Ruby A. and Jesse N. Fletcher Award for Outstanding School of Business Student went to Stephen Clark, a computer science major from North Richland Hills.

The Texas Society of CPA’s Outstanding Junior Scholarship in Accounting Award went to Caroline Stanley, an accounting major from Houston. The Texas Society of CPA’s Accounting Excellence Award went to Matthew Taylor Neatherlin, an accounting major from Avoca. The Outstanding Accounting Student Award went to Kyle Gopffarth. The Outstanding Computer Science Student Award went to Stephen Clark. The Outstanding Economics Student Award went to J. Braxton Gately. The Outstanding Finance Student Award went to Steven Barnas, a financial major from Indonesia. The Outstanding Management Student Award went to Hannah Smith, a finance and management major from Ransom Canyon. The Outstanding Marketing Student Award went to Kacie Berutti, a marketing major from Flower Mound. The Outstanding Graduate Student Award went to Kacy Bartlett, a master of business administration student.

The ceremony also recognized the following Delta Mu Delta members: Matthew Taylor Neatherlin, Stephen Clark, J. Braxton Gately,  Steven Barnas, Hannah Smith, Kacie Berutti, Kacy Bartlett, Mackenzie Demmer, an accounting and economics major from Crowley; Megan Elling, an accounting major from Abilene; Weston Garner, an economics and marketing major from College Station; Colby James, a master of business administration student from Grapevine; Matthew King, a finance major from Arlington; Jason Ligon, a finance major from Abilene; Austin Lynch, an economics major from Houston; Madison McDonald, Alice McKinney, an accounting major from Coldsboro; Rowan Meyer, an accounting major from Woodway; Kinsey Munton, a business administration major from Abilene; Jenna Smith, a finance and management major from Ransom Canyon; Caroline Stanley, Andrew Stewart, an accounting an marketing major from Abilene;  Jacob Todd, an accounting major from Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Lauren Wish, an accounting and finance major from Mansfield.    

The Kelley-Tucker Endow Business Scholars were recognized at the ceremony. They include Hoziane Amen, an economics major from Abilene/Rwanda; Steven Barnas, Taylor Cooling, an accounting and finance major from Baytown; Audrey Haddox, a management major from Fort Worth; Jeremy Hallmark, an accounting and finance major from Midland; Hayley Humprey, an economics and finance major from Abilene; Aaron Kovach, a business administration major from The Woodlands; Sarah Krisa, an economics major from Midland; Jason Ligon, Chandler Livingston, a finance major with a leadership studies minor from Huntsville; Anthony Martin, an economics and finance major from Leander; Denise Mugisha, a business administration major from Abilene/Rwanda; Nathan Ross, an accounting and information systems major from Brownwood; Luke Smith, an accounting major from Arlington; Kristina Stasser, an accounting and finance major from Abilene; Ian Voorhies, a computer science major from Sugarland; Molly Warren, a business administration major from Greenfield, Indiana; Griffin Weinkam, a business major from Frisco; and Blake Wilson, an economics and finance major from Mansfield.
