HSU to Host Citywide Youth Conference Feb. 3 & 4

January 31, 2017 Staff reports

(Abilene, Texas) Hardin-Simmons University is proud to be hosting the Citywide Youth Conference on February 3rd and 4th. Hundreds of middle and high school students from across Abilene are expected to attend the event to share their faith and come together as a community with speakers, music, and discussion.

“For one weekend a year, our dream is to see students rise up across different schools, backgrounds, and churches to declare that we are for Jesus. We are for each other. And we are for the city,” according to conference organizers.

About 400 students and 100 leaders from 10 area churches are expected to participate in the two-day event.

Conference speakers include Dustin Bates, Jeremy Donovan, and Geoffrey Turner. Bates is pastor of a church in Allen, Donovan is director of student ministry at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, and Turner is college pastor at Beltway Park in Abilene.

Conference sessions for students include the topics of identity, growing your faith, sharing the Gospel, and stress and anxiety. The event was first held in 2015 and has grown each year as word has spread.

The event will take place in Behrens Auditorium. For more information, visit http://www.citywideconference.com.
