HSU Students Study Abroad in Spain

Universidad de Salamanca offers more than Spanish credits

Each summer HSU students have the opportunity to take advantage of several study abroad programs.  This summer students traveled to Salamanca, Spain and received six credit hours of Spanish while studying during the month of June. Students stayed in residence halls at the Universidad de Salamanca enjoying the culture and food, and spending their free time traveling.

Melissa Wagner, senior communications major from Abilene, said, “I loved the study abroad experience because no matter where you go in the world, you are going to find kind, loving people. There is so much more out there than we are used to and getting to know other people and parts of the world broadens our perspective and helps us become more understanding, patient, and well-rounded people.”

Along with their studies, students were able to visit places such as Santander, Portugal and Barcelona.

Gracie Hebert, senior Spanish education major from Allen, Texas, said, “I loved getting to experience a new culture. Spain is such a relaxing, easy going place. Offering these trips shows that HSU wants you to learn academically but also culturally.”
