Each year, the six universities that make up the Christian
Association of Student Leaders (CASL) get together to collaborate and share
ideas about student life, and what it means to be a leader.
This year, Hardin-Simmons will be hosting the Texas Baptists
CASL program and in doing so has invited over 250 students to participate in
this joint effort.
Students from all over Texas and as far as Oklahoma,
Mississippi, and Louisiana will spend three days getting to know one another
and sharing the programs and ideas that work at their prospective schools.
The keynote speaker will be Samuel Phillip Wilson, a
graduate of HSU and business leader whom was recently inducted to the Hall of
Leaders in 2014. He will be speaking on
leadership learned from the book of Exodus.
John Dodge, senior biology major and co-chair of this year’s
conference is excited for all of the planning, hard work, and preparation for
the conference to finally happen. “CASL
is not only about getting together but its about all of the students gaining a
broader knowledge of what it means to be a leader, a better student and a better
professional,” he said.
The students will also take in a movie at the Historic
Paramount Theatre and Christian musician Jimmy Needham will be on campus in
