    Amanda Etter
    Spurs Dance Team Director
    HSU Box 16185

Amanda Etter is blessed to have been part of the HSU family as a student, active alumna, and staff member since 2001. She truly enjoys sharing her Hardin-Simmons experience with those she comes into contact with, and shares the ideals and mission of the University.

HSU has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and Amanda has shared in that experience since her first day on campus. She came to Hardin-Simmons in the fall of 2001 as a student. While as a student Amanda was actively involved in all aspects of campus life, including serving as an NSO leader, Student Congress, and reporting sports for HSU Athletics. While as a student she was named “Outstanding Student” by the Abilene Optimist Club, and “Who’s Who” among Universities in the US. Most notably, Amanda was a 4-year member of the Spurs Dance Team, serving as Yell-Leader and Captain, and was awarded “Spur of the Year” twice.

After graduating in 2005 with her BA in Communication and Spanish, Amanda served as an Admissions Consultant (2005-2006), and as Director of Marketing (2007-2010) for HSU before deciding to stay at home with her son. She has served and is affiliated with many professional organizations including the United Way, AAF, Abilene PRO and more. Most recently Amanda has served as Instructor/Choreographer at APAC for their Musical Theatre 1 & 2/3 classes. As an HSU alumna, she first was a member of the Alumni Board of Directors and is currently a member of the Board of Young Associates.

Amanda and her husband are active members of the HSU and Abilene community. Her husband, Mitchell is a 2006 graduate of HSU with a degree in Music Education and is the Director of Bands at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, TX just south of Abilene. Mitchell has a large private lesson studio, and is working toward his Master’s in Gifted Education at HSU. Amanda and her family serve as active members at Pioneer Drive Baptist church. They have two sons, Owen (5) and Eli (3).

Amanda feels that The Lord has affirmed her position at Hardin-Simmons University over the past decade and she knows that HSU is a part of the Lord’s plan for her and her family.
