“Welcome to the family!” I will never forget the moment I heard those words from an HSU alum when she found out I was coming to school here. At that time, I had no idea that she perfectly described Hardin-Simmons when she referred to us as a family. HSU has been my home away from home, and the friends I made and our faculty and staff have come to be family members to me.
I love that God delights in the details of our lives, and I know that He was completely in charge in leading me to Hardin-Simmons. I am a panhandle girl at heart, and grew up in the small town of Hereford, Texas. I cannot begin to describe how much I enjoyed my time as a student at HSU, and how blessed I was by the activities I was involved in. From New Student Orientation, to social clubs, to SING, to BSM, and yes, even my classes, each and everything I was involved in at HSU has helped make me into the person I am today. Attending school at Hardin-Simmons not only allowed me to receive a college education, but to grow spiritually. My husband, Cody, and I met as seniors in high school through HSU’s Spring Round-Up. After seven years here, completing both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees and now working as an employee of the school, Abilene has become home to us. I am so excited that I am able to work for the school that had such a huge impact on my life. I love the relationships I build with families throughout the recruiting process, and I am excited to get to know you more throughout this process!
