Much of my pattern in life can be attributed to my experiences at Hardin-Simmons University. I learned so much about God and my faith during my college days, and I was led to my wife here. My career in teaching/band directing, music sales and management, and over thirty years in the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra were made possible by my degree and the associations I made at this institution. My being on the staff today is largely due to my close association with the school throughout the years. Professors and staff directly and indirectly impacted major decisions in my career choices and have remained trusted friends throughout my life. Most of my life-long friendships have come through HSU and First Baptist Church, Abilene. Although Nancy and I encouraged our children to consider HSU we never pushed the university on our children, because we thought they should make their college choices on their own. But I believe they saw the positive influence HSU made in our family and friends and chose to attend as well. I am proud to be an HSU alumnus. It is difficult to separate who I am today from my being a member of the Hardin-Simmons family.
