Erin Utley
Class Of: 2012

Graduate Student
M.A. Family Psychology
Abilene, Tx

Though at first I wondered why my heart was being pulled this way, I am now able to see that my decision after freshman year to transfer to HSU from a larger state university is a perfect picture of God’s divine intervention. Hardin-Simmons quickly became home, and I have never regretted my decision. I am confident that no other university would have provided me the attention, personal interest, or quality of education I have received from my professors at HSU. I feel comfortable, important, and accepted, which all contribute so greatly to an environment which makes learning desirable. More importantly, Christ has been and continues to be on this campus and is in my life more strongly than ever as I am able to receive an education enlightened by faith. I have found my niche here at Hardin-Simmons, and I could not be more grateful. Because of this place, I am developing into the person God intends me to be.

Gazebo and Reflection pond

In 1978 Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Wood presented the University with a gift for the campus beautification, which resulted in the building of the reflection pond. In 1979 on the occasion of the Class of 1929's 50th anniversary, the class made a gift which was to construct the gazebo near the pond.
