Call (9) 911 or the HSU Police Department at (325) 670-1461 or 1461 from a campus
phone.
•
The vice president for student development, the dean of students, or the HSU police chief
will engage the HSU Alert notification system. The steps are:
o
From HSU homepage, go to HSU Central
o
Click on the HSU Alert icon
o
Log in using your HSU credentials
o
Click on “Post a Message”
o
Choose “Premium Text” from dropdown box
o
Select appropriate message group from the “To” field
o
Type message
o
Click “Post”
•
The vice president for enrollment and marketing management will deploy the emergency
notification into the HSU TV server system, which will display on campus TVs tuned to
channel 14.
•
The HSU chief of police will deploy mobile PA announcements and/or the campus PA
system (as necessary) in a seek shelter or lockdown situation.
•
The vice president for student development, the dean of students or the HSU police chief
will contact the VP for enrollment and marketing management for media contact and/or
response.
•
In the event the VP for enrollment and marketing management is unavailable:
o
First alternative spokesperson would be the dean of students.
o
Second alternative spokesperson would be the associate dean of students.
o
Third alternative spokesperson would be the HSU police chief.

These may include: threats, harassment, or obscene calls.
HSU Police will respond to threatening calls received by students personal cell phone or phones
located in dorms, off-campus housing, offices, buildings, or cell phones belonging to HSU. Call or
contact the Hardin-Simmons Police at (325) 670-1461.

Save phone numbers and voice messages.
•
Time, date the calls were received.
•
Location: dorm room, building, office, or off-campus housing.
•
Fill out the report form on the following page.
