Residents are allowed to have a refrigerator in their rooms but not a microwave. There are microwaves available to residents in the residence hall lobby. All refrigerators must be 4.0 cubic feet or smaller in size. Residents have the opportunity to rent a microfridge through the HSU housing office. However HSU has a very limited number of microfridge units to rent and therefore freshmen in Nix and Behrens Halls are given first priority. Priority is NOT given to those who may have rented a microfridge during previous semesters. The microfridges may be reserved through a summer mail-out to residents from the Housing Office. The microfridges are at a lower wattage and therefore approved for the residence hall rooms. Cost per semester for a microfridge from HSU is $70 and may be split between roommates. Microfridges can be purchased directly at www.microfridge.com. The microfridge brand is the only accepted microfridge allowed in on-campus housing. The microfridge must also be 4.0 cubic feet or smaller in size.
