Tomorrow’s Leaders Today and Erin Greer Memorial Scholarships
For generations, Hardin-Simmons University has served as the training ground for some of the finest leaders in our communities, nation and world. God continues to use these forty acres to prepare young men and women to make a profound difference in this generation.
Believing that the development of such leadership is a critical part of the mission of Hardin-Simmons, the Board of Young Associates established the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today scholarships.
The Board of Young Associates awards scholarships each spring to students who will be juniors or seniors in the fall and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership while embodying the goals and ideals of Hardin-Simmons University.
Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
In 1986, the BYA established this scholarship to recognize a junior or senior student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership related to the goals and ideals of HSU. Recipients are to demonstrate the following qualifications: a strong academic record, leadership through personal involvement in HSU campus life and activities, and personal commitment to the goals and ideals of HSU.
Erin Greer Memorial Scholarship
The Erin Greer Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Erin Greer following her death in a 1996 automobile accident during her sophomore year at Hardin-Simmons. The criteria for this scholarship are the same as those of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Scholarship, and it has traditionally been awarded to a recipient who meets those qualifications with an emphasis on faith, service and compassion.
At the time of her death, Erin was one of five finalists for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Scholarship.
