Larry Edwards Memorial Scholarship

The Larry Edwards Endowed Memorial Scholarship was established by Mary Edwards and the Dallas Area HSU Alumni Chapter in memory of Larry Edwards, a 1963 HSU graduate and the first Dallas Chapter president.

The scholarship is to be awarded annually to an HSU student(s) from the Dallas area that maintains a solid academic record, is active in church and campus extra-curricular activities, and demonstrates a commitment to Hardin-Simmons. Recipients must have completed at least one or more years at HSU. Current freshmen may apply, since the award for them would begin the following fall (their sophomore year). The scholarship will be re-awarded each year; however, those who have previously received the scholarship may re-apply and will be considered, along with first-time applicants. Selection will be based on this completed application form and a personal interview.

The award will be approximately 5.5% of the scholarship endowment principal, equally divided, one half for fall semester, one half for spring semester or $1000.00 for the year, $500 per semester. However, these award amounts may vary since the scholarship could be awarded to more than one student per year and due to fluctuations in endowment earnings.

Finalists will be contacted to arrange interview times.
