Are You Fan Enough?

Thursday, September 20, 2012

The gauntlet has been thrown down, the challenge issued. Hardin-Simmons University’s Anderson Residence Hall has an iPad to give away to the student who can prove herself or himself to be HSU’s biggest sports fan.

Playing off the “Iron Man Triathlon”, the Iron Fan Challenge is an, “Epic contest of fan superiority,” according challenge promoter, HSU post-grad student and residence hall director, Tim Schmidt.

Schmidt says September 28-29 is a rare weekend, “Most of HSU’s fall sports are in action and at home, all in a 48-hour time period. It is a unique opportunity to prove what great fans we have here at HSU,” says Schmidt.

To prove you’re “fan enough” (and for a shot at the iPad), students have to attend all four sporting events offered on campus for the epic weekend of September 28-29, 2012. Students also have to attend all sporting events from the beginning to the end.

Step 1: HSU students must register in Moody Center to receive a Gametag, September 24-28, 2012.

Step 2: Attend every sporting event on campus from beginning to end on September 28-29.

·         Friday – Volleyball, 7 p.m.

·         Saturday – Women’s Soccer, 2 p.m.

·         Saturday – Men’s Soccer, 4 p.m.

·         Saturday – Tailgate Party, 4:30 p.m.

·         Saturday – Football, 6 p.m.

Step 3: Turn in the Gametag at the football game half-time.

Step 4: Stay until the end of the game because you must be present to win.

All students who complete their Gametag will get an Iron Fan t-shirt. The Iron Fan champion, chosen by a random drawing of completed Gametags, will receive an iPad!

Schmidt says, “HSU has an amazing athletic tradition of excellence. Our fans are pretty awesome as well. We just wanted to do something to prove how great our fans really are.”

Plus he says there are surprise giveaways. “So even if students can’t make every event, they should still attend as many events as possible.”

So get your game face on and your HSU purple and gold to prove you are fan enough.
