Already fluent in English, Mandarin, and Malay, Hardin-Simmons University senior, Stephanie Teoh, is looking forward to learning German during her upcoming semester at Salzburg College.
Teoh is part of HSU’s International Studies Program that oversees students using a semester to study at Salzburg College, as well as in other HSU programs in London, England; Hong Kong, China; Salamanca, Spain; and Sydney, Australia.
Teoh has set herself apart as this fall’s recipient of the Dr. Ina Stegen Scholarship, given by Salzburg College, to one or more eligible university students across the United States, based on an essay and the application form submitted by the student.
Teoh came to HSU as a freshman from Ampang, Selangor, in Malaysia, a suburb of capitol city Kuala Lumpur, to study in the Kelley College of Business at HSU. This fall semester in Salzburg will be her first time in Europe.
Stephanie is featured in the Salzburg College newsletter this month. “She is excited about experiencing all that Salzburg has to offer as well as learning and growing in an environment outside her comfort zone,” according to the newsletter.
There are 24 HSU students currently signed up for study abroad programs. Dr. Alan Landwer, director of International Studies and professor of biology, says there are still several students who are still working on their applications to study at the international partner universities.
