HSU Set as Regional Host Site for National Leadership Conference on Church, Business, and Education

Friday, July 06, 2012

On August 9-10, 2012, churches and universities across the country play host to the world-class faculty representing business, education, social justice, and public service, meant to challenge leaders of all kinds.

Hardin-Simmons University is again set to serve as the West Central Texas Premiere Host Site for The Global Leadership Summit 2012.

“The Global Leadership Summit is a unique offering for Abilene and the West Central Texas region and a great fit with the mission of HSU to provide an education enlightened by faith,” said James Stone, HSU’s director of church relations.

Presented in partnership with The Willow Creek Association (WCA), The Global Leadership Summit is a yearly concentration of church, business, government, non-profit, and educational leaders in more than 300 cities around the world. The summit allows local leaders to engage world-class entrepreneurs, best-selling authors, and notable Christian leaders in the exploration of relevant leadership practices.

“True leaders are learners who do not confine their development to a single stream of influence,” says WCA President Jim Mellado. “And we're seeing leaders turn to the Willow Creek Association’s leadership conference to experience a torrent of inspiration and stirring of new vantage points.”

Hardin-Simmons University is one of only 19 premiere host sites in Texas for the two-day event originating at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. The Global Leadership Summit 2012 will be transmitted live via satellite to 200 locations throughout the U.S. on August 9-10, 2012, and videocast internationally in 42 languages to more than 90 countries by January 2013.

“While designed to ultimately help attendees recognize the impact of their leadership upon the work of the church, the summit theme, Lead Where You Are, will inform the leadership needs of just about anyone,” says Stone.

“Leadership is not only about power or position, but the capacity to influence those around us, through action, toward a more noble purpose. For those identifying themselves as Christ-followers, the purpose of leadership in any area of life necessitates the use of whatever influence we have to ultimately serve others.”

The summit will feature a broadly-based speaker lineup including:
