• What have we done?

    • We started HSU's first and only campus recycling program that is expanding to this day
    • We created a statistical data collecting system to track approximately how much material we are keeping out of land fills.
    • We started an annual move-out event called "Dump Day" that provides students moving out of the dorms at the end of the spring semester with an area to dump their reusable or recyclable goods that would otherwise end up in the trash
    • We have done countless fun experiential education based events. These include: Global Awareness Week, Human Power Day, Dump Day, Movie on the Lawn: The Lorax, Giant Sandwich Q&A Session, Craft Night, and so much more.
    • plantWe held an Earth Day event where students were invited to come pot their own plants to celebrate the day.
    • We partnered with The Arbor Day Foundation "1 for 1" tree to student donation program. In 2011, we donated 1 tree to The Arbor Day Foundation for every student that signed up and participated in HSU's New Student Orientation.

    • We held a film screening for the documentary, "The 11th Hour"
    • We developed an annual gift guide for the holiday season called "The Buy Good Stuff Guide." It consists of theGreenteam's top 10 picks of earth-friendly gifts that you and the people you give them to will love
    • We put a Brita Hydration Station (partnered with Water4Water Foundation) in the Moody Student Center, Behrens Residence Hall, and Anderson Hall.
    • shirtsWe held a Shirt Swap event where students could donate old shirts and swap them for someone else's unwanted shirts. We took all remaining articles of clothing to be donated.
    • waterbottlesWe gave freshman at the 2012 New Student Orientation an HSU Green Team Nalgene water bottle to help reduce the use of plastic water bottles around campus.
    • Fall 2012 we held a bike seminar to teach students about bike safety and encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation around campus. We partnered this with our annual Human Power Challenge event.
    • Fall 2012 we began a bike rack renovation project with a goal of improving our bike racks, and increasing the use of them on campus. Along with remodeling each current bike rack, we are purchasing 4 brand new bike racks, and moving secluded ones to more high traffic bike areas around HSU buildings.
