Joining the English department at HSU is, for me, a homecoming. Not only did I receive my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from HSU, but I also served as a dorm director and part-time instructor before moving on to pursue my doctorate. After I finished my doctorate, I knew I wanted to come home to HSU as soon as I stepped back on campus for my interview.

Now, as a faculty member, I especially appreciate HSU’s commitment to intellectual and spiritual growth and its mission of preparing students to become both life-long learners and Christ-centered professionals. I love teaching in the English department because teaching core writing and literature courses allows me to cross paths with most students at one time or another during their time at HSU. The small class sizes allow me to get to know each of these students as individuals, just as my HSU professors did when I was a student here.
