It is great to be teaching at a Christian institution. My first teaching experience was at a small Baptist college in Missouri. It was there that I began to understand God’s call on my life to minister through teaching. After nine years I moved on to pursue a doctoral degree. I was able to complete my PhD from Texas A&M in the summer of 2009. A&M is a wonderful University (Gig em Aggies!), but I missed the family feel and Christian values of a school like HSU. I also missed the close connections you get with students at a smaller university like this one.
My roots are in the Midwest, but my wife, Mendy, and her family are from the Abilene area. She and several family members attended HSU. Our daughter, Emily, is in 2nd grade and our son, Alex, is learning to crawl and getting into everything.
I love my family, my God, teaching, serving in our church, woodworking and art, learning to farm on the old family place, and working alongside the excellent faculty in the Department of Communication.
