Robert Rankin Brooks is Dean of the School of Music and Fine Arts at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he earned the Bachelor of Music in vocal pedagogy and the Bachelor of Music Education in choral music education. He completed his graduate studies at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, receiving the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in church music. Prior to his appointment at HSU, Dr. Brooks was Associate Dean of the Gary Cook Graduate School of Leadership at Dallas Baptist University. Prior to DBU, he served as Director of Educational Outreach at The Juilliard School in New York City. Also, Dr. Brooks has served as Dean of Fine Arts at Dallas Baptist University and Director of Graduate Studies and Department Head of Church Music at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. His work experience includes a nine-year tenure on the music staff of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. His performance experience includes performance in opera, musical theater, and church music. Also, Dr. Brooks served on the staff of The Juilliard School as Associate Director of Educational Outreach. He is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
