Dr. Chandler earned his doctoral degree in higher education from Texas Tech University, his masters degree in communication from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his undergraduate degree in journalism from Angelo State University.
Dr. Chandler is married to Ginger Chandler, Director for Field Marketing for Rosas Café in Abilene and has two children – Brittany, who works for Exxon as an engineer and Logan, a senior at Abilene High School.
He teaches classes in advertising, speech communication, and mass media at Hardin-Simmons University and is a faculty sponsor for both the HSU Student Ad Club and the HSU Public Relations Student Society. Dr. Chandler serves on the Chapel Vision and Strategy Committee at HSU, the Academic Technology Committee, and the Faculty Council and is the Faculty Secretary. He teaches an adult Bible class at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and serves on the youth committee there. He is a board member for AAF Abilene, volunteer for Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the United Way of Abilene and serves on the board of Neighborhoods in Progress. Dr. Chandler writes a monthly column about advertising for Abilene Biz magazine and he was honored as the Advertising Educator of the Year for 2007 by the AAF Tenth District where he serves on two committees. Dr. Chandler is the faculty advisor for the student advertising team which competes in the National Student Advertising Competition each spring and he is currently working on his Sabbatical project involving the use of media technology for site interpretation on the Texas Forts Trail.
