HSU is a special place filled with many interesting people – both among the students, faculty and within the staff. We have fostered an environment where we can teach and interact with our students in both a personal and professional way. There have been many times that I have prayed with my students for a variety of reasons. You won’t find the attention to detail directed toward a student’s future at any public institution like what we have here. In addition, the institution provides able opportunity for students to find out as much as they want about their chose field or major. I have interacted with students where we have traveled, camped, and explored out of the way places in West Texas. Usually they have never heard of these places but they learn about them by being there. My reward is to show these young men and women the features of the Earth as exposed in West Texas and southern New Mexico. The trill I get is to see them learn and what they find. They often find a cool mineral or fossil but sometimes it is just a leverite.
