“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5, 6 I began my teaching career at HSU in 2003, after practicing law for 17 years. I had served 10 years as a prosecutor, 3 years in private practice and 4 years as a Special Litigation Attorney for Child Protective Services. Having hundreds of trials and litigation “battles” under my belt, I had no idea what to expect when I made the transition from courtroom to classroom. It would be untruthful if I said the evolution was an easy one, however, I can say with all my heart that it has been a blessing. God truly does work in “mysterious ways.” He has provided an incredible opportunity for me to utilize my legal education, training, and experience in ways that I never expected. I have found that HSU provides a unique and dynamic opportunity for students to obtain their higher education in a Christian environment which nurtures the mind as well as the spirit. I am proud and honored to be a faculty member of HSU.
I met my husband, Charlie, in law school and we have been married since 1987. We are blessed with a daughter and a son, Hayden and Hunter. Charlie practices law in Abilene and is a partner at Whitten, Hacker, Hagin, Anderson, Rucker and Self. I believe that it is very important to be an active member of the community and as such I am currently serving as Chair of the Abilene Civil Service Commission. I am also a member of the Board of Directors of Disability Resources. In addition, I am a fitness instructor at the Power Shack gym. I am a Past-President of the Junior League of Abilene as well as the Abilene Young Lawyers Association.
