Having taught at HSU for over thirty years, I am convinced that the best thing about our university is the sometimes unstated, but always definite, assumption among administration, faculty, and staff that our careers here really are all about the Lord and the realization of His purposes, all about serving Him. One consequence for us faculty members is freedom to address the real issues of life in our teaching - how God is to be honored, witnessed, glorified - instead of echoing the shallow temporary cultural values which just die when our bodies do. This has been the greatest positive feature and greatest motivator for my teaching at HSU. I am thankful that God has “determined the times set for us, and the exact places where we should live” and that in my life it has been Abilene and Hardin-Simmons University.
