Carrie Jones
Carrie Jones, assistant professor of photography, is a
native Texan, born on Galveston Island and reared in Corpus Christi. After
graduating high school from Incarnate Word Academy, Carrie began studying
studio art at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi (TAMUCC). She received a
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in photography in 2007 from
TAMUCC. Jones began graduate studies at TAMUCC shortly after completing her B.F.A.,
receiving her Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography in 2010.
While attending TAMUCC, Carrie became a well-rounded artist
whose work demonstrates an acute understanding of various digital, analog, and
alternative photographic processes, as well as drawing and sculpture. She has
exhibited her work internationally and across Texas, and has won various awards
in juried exhibitions. Her work can also be seen in a number of private
collections.
In the summer of 2008, Jones studied photography abroad at
the Santa Reparata School of Fine Art in Florence, Italy. Her professional
background includes an internship with the American Heart Association,
assisting to curate a show for the Art Museum of South Texas, and teaching
photography as a graduate teaching assistant and as an adjunct professor.
