Dr. Charles Walts

Dr. Charles Walts, associate professor of accounting and
finance, has served on the faculty of HSU for 15 years. After finishing his master’s
degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, he
began his professional career with what is now Ernst and Young, an
international public accounting firm.
He received his CPA license in 1974 and spent over six years
an auditor. He then entered industry and ultimately became the CFO of a holding
company with major interests in the transportation industry. He has done
independent consulting in the fields of accounting and finance before beginning
a career in academe.
Walts completed his doctorate in 2003 and has taught
numerous courses in accounting and finance at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels. He brings to the classroom not just academic knowledge but
real-world practical experience and application.
