Dr. Edgar Reed

Edgar Reed, instructor of fitness and sport sciences, is a
native west Texan born in Midland. He attended Angelo State University where he
received a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology in 2001 and a Master of
Science in Kinesiology in 2003.
He served as a student athletic trainer during his
undergraduate campaign and received a graduate assistantship spot with the
campus recreation department while completing his master’s degree. As a senior
and a graduate he also served the kinesiology department as an adjunct
professor for several classes.
After completing his master’s degree at Angelo State, he was
the director of campus recreation and taught in the physical education department
at McMurry University in Abilene from 2003 to 2004.
He then moved to Commerce, Texas, to work for the recreation
department of Texas A&M University-Commerce. He began work on his Doctorate
in Education in secondary and higher education administration while in
Commerce. His current anticipated graduation date is May 2013.
Reed’s hobbies include racquetball, golf, fishing, and
hunting. He has a passion for officiating, currently working college football
and softball at the division one level. He officiates games for the Big XII,
SEC, Conference USA, Southland, Sun Belt, American Southwest Conference, and
The Lone Star Conference.
He also supports and volunteers for the American Red Cross,
Special Olympics, and HEROS programs in the Big Country area.
