Dr. John Gassler

John Gassler received his B.S. in physical therapy in 1975, his M.S. in anatomy in 1982 from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, and DPT from Hardin-Simmons University in 2012.
He was assistant professor in the PT program at the University of New England
in Biddeford, Maine, from 1982 to 1988, teaching gross anatomy and basic
neuroscience to OT and PT students.
He was assistant professor in the department of physical
therapy at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga in 1991-1993, teaching
neurologic physical therapy, pathophysiology, pediatrics, and geriatrics. In
1993, he returned to clinical practice for National Healthcare Corp., a
Murfreesboro, TN-based senior care company operating skilled nursing
facilities, assisted living facilities and homecare agencies.
He served as PT department director from 1993-1998 and facility
rehabilitation coordinator from 1998-2007. During some of this time he also
taught as an adjunct instructor in the department of physical therapy at
Tennessee State University in Nashville. From 2007-2010, he was a member of the
corporate-level Medicare audit appeal team, a mentor, instructor, and committee
member in NHC’s Geriatric Clinical Residency Program, and a practicing PT.
He received his certification as a Geriatric Clinical
Specialist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 1998. He
is a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through APTA. In 2009, he became a
Certified Exercise Expert for the Aging Adult (CEEAA). He is a member of APTA,
TPTA, and the Education Section and Section on Geriatrics, APTA. He practices
clinically in the home health and skilled nursing facility settings.
