Dr. Mary Lou Garrett

Dr. Mary Lou Garrett graduated from the School of Allied
Health Science, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, with a Bachelor
of Science degree in physical therapy. She earned her Master of Education
degree in counseling and human development, and her transitional Doctor of
Physical Therapy degree from Hardin-Simmons University. She has 39 years of
experience in clinical physical therapy with a primary area of interest in
pediatrics.
In June, 2003, Garrett earned her certification as a
Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy through the APTA and was
recently granted recertification through 2023. She has also completed
certification in Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment. In 1995, she was the
recipient of the Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award given by the Texas
Consortium for Physical Therapy Clinical Education, Inc., and in 2008, she was
named the recipient of the Ruby Decker Award as the most outstanding clinician
in the state of Texas.
In addition to teaching and clinical education work, she
frequently is a guest speaker for the community, continues to work with
children in the school setting and at West Texas Rehabilitation Center, is a
volunteer with Make-A-Wish Foundation, and serves on the Region XIV Health
Advisory Board and the advisory committee for the Holland High Medical School.
