Doug Thomas

Dr. Douglas P. Thomas, professor of psychology and head of the HSU Psychology Department, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology/sociology at California Baptist University, located in Riverside, California. He received his Master of Arts degree in social sciences with a specialization in the philosophy of social science from California State University, Fullerton.

His Ph.D. in clinical psychology was completed at United States International University, San Diego, California. He served his pre-doctoral internship with San Bernardino County Department of Mental Health, San Bernardino, California.

Before coming to Hardin-Simmons, Thomas was a licensed psychologist in California and was employed as the director of a community mental health clinic in Fontana, California, where he both worked with patient populations and supervised other mental health professionals. He also had a private practice in Riverside, California.

Other experience includes working with juvenile offenders at Riverside Juvenile Hall, and with emotionally disturbed adolescents at Good Samaritan Centers, Corona, California.
