Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management. Review of candidate materials will begin in early February and continue until the position is filled. The candidate chosen for this position will begin employment June 1, 2013.

Located in Abilene, Texas, the university was founded in 1891 by a dedicated group of ministers, ranchers, and merchants. Affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas since 1941, HSU provides an academically challenging undergraduate liberal arts education and advances scholarly growth by offering specialized graduate and professional degree programs. Combining its commitment to academic excellence with a concern for the development of the total person with a distinctive Christian perspective, Hardin-Simmons serves students through quality educational programs within the classroom as well as outside the classroom through an active student development program.

The university offers 63 major and minor fields of study, and seven degrees (B.A., B.S., B.B.S., B.B.A., B.F.A., B.S.N., and B.M.) at the undergraduate level. HSU offers seven master’s degrees and three doctoral degrees: Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Education. Hardin-Simmons University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Vice President for Enrollment Management reports to the President of the university.
Preferred qualifications for the position are:
  • Master’s degree earned at a regionally accredited institution in higher education, business or a related field required; preference for an earned doctoral degree
  • Results-oriented leadership with a record of success in shaping and managing enrollment  
  • At least five years of  experience in the field of enrollment management that includes enrollment planning, admissions, and financial aid
  • Recognition of the need for continual innovation to distinguish Hardin-Simmons University from other colleges and to compete with other regional institutions
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to utilize data in decision making
  • A deep understanding of net revenue, strategic pricing, discounting, and financial aid leveraging
  • Ability to use, assess, and manage technology and information systems in the enrollment area
  • Exceptional relational skills with faculty, staff, and other University constituency groups
  • Commitment to and  proven experience in assessment, program review, and planning for institutional effectiveness
  • Deep personal Christian commitment and an appreciation for, and understanding of, higher education in the Baptist tradition
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the context of a Baptist university and Baptist life
  • A person of character and integrity
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Commitment to harnessing technology in all facets of enrollment management programming
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively in advancing the mission of the university
