Instructor/Assistant Professor in Department of Fitness & Sport Sciences

Department: Irvin School of Education

POSITION:
Full-time instructor/assistant professor in Department of Fitness and Sport Sciences. Consideration may be given for tenure track for qualified candidate. Employment to begin fall semester 2013.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of master degree in Athletic Training or AT related program
· Board of Certification (BOC) certified athletic trainer
· Evidence of instructional effectiveness and enthusiasm for teaching
· Familiarity with Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) standards and National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) educational competencies
· Practicing Christian who will be supportive of the mission of Hardin-Simmons University
Preferred:
(1) Five years experience as an athletic trainer
(2) Experience in CAATE accredited academic program
(3) Experience teaching sport & exercise science courses
(4) Earned doctorate

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Normal teaching load for a full-time faculty member is 12 semester hours per
long semester and may include the following undergraduate courses:
· Courses specific to athletic training education (6 semester hours per long semester)
· Sport science courses within the department (3 semester hours per long semester)
· Athletic training clinical coordinator services (3 semester hours per long semester)
Additional responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:
· Student academic advisement and mentoring
· Service to the University
· Service to the community
· Graduate course teaching commensurate with academic scholarship and department need per department chairperson
· Potential option for May and summer term teaching if needed per department chairperson

SALARY:
Commensurate with qualifications for position, highest degree earned
