Students are considered for scholarships based on a combination of the following criteria: academic preparation and performance, standardized testing, co-curricular involvement, enrollment status, and anticipated major. Except where noted, no additional application is required; admissions and financial aid applications are also used for scholarship evaluation. Requirements and/or evaluation criteria are subject to change. Awards funded by HSU are capped at tuition.
*Scores represent averages and are based on the new ACT & SAT which involves writing.
* Based on 24 transferable hours. Transfer students with less than 24 transferable credits will be evaluated under freshman admission and scholarship guidelines.
Please Note: To be considered for the limited number of scholarships available, new students must submit the following:
(1) Application for admission, (2) A non-refundable application fee, (3) Official high school transcript, (4) Official
academic transcript for previous college work (if applicable), and (5) Eligible ACT/SAT scores (if applicable). (6) 3 Letters of Recommendation (if applicable).
All institutional scholarships are HSU-tuition-specific scholarships. McMurry University, Abilene Christian University,
the Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing, International Studies Program, and the Physical Therapy Program tuition
charges are not covered.
Scholarships are renewable for up to a maximum of eight (8) consecutive semesters, provided that full-time enrollment
and satisfactory academic progress is being made. Availability beyond eight (8) semesters is on appeal basis only
and subject to availability of funds.
Numerous endowed and restricted scholarships are available through the various departments. Contact the department
head related to your major for details. Some departmental awards are not tuition specific.
