Hi! My name is Shara Johnson, and I am the Admissions Consultant for the Dallas, East Texas, and Houston areas.

It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I first stepped foot on the campus of Hardin-Simmons. I attended a Preview Weekend in the fall of my senior year of high school. After a full day of learning about all Hardin-Simmons had to offer, I headed back home with my parents. As we drove away I told them, “This is where I’m supposed to be!” I couldn’t imagine spending my four years of college anywhere else.

I grew up in McKinney, Texas, and headed off to Hardin-Simmons in 1999. In 2003 I graduated with a degree in Speech Communication. I am so grateful for all I received while on this wonderful campus. I chose Hardin-Simmons not only to grow academically, but to grow spiritually, and through the professors, the organizations, and my classmates, I did just that.

One of my favorite things about HSU was being able to walk around campus and not only have the professors call me by my name, but many of the students. I always heard the friends you make in college are friends you keep for a lifetime, and that is absolutely true! I know some of the friends I made my first semester of college will be ones I never lose touch with. Because of them, my college years were even more enjoyable. I never had to go to Wal-Mart alone, I always had study partners at 2 a.m. in IHOP, and the weekends were always entertaining whether it was cheering at the football games, watching a movie on Anderson Lawn, or even sliding down the stairs on our mattresses in Ferguson Hall (the RA wasn’t a huge fan of that!).

My four years at Hardin-Simmons were ones I would never trade and will always cherish. I want your experience at college to be the same, so I ask that you consider through prayer where God is leading you. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing you are right where God wants you to be!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way I can with your college decisions. If you need to reach me for whatever reason, please call me at 1.877.GOHSUTX x 1372 or email me at sjohnson@hsutx.edu.

Throughout your decision-making time, please consider the following, “Whether you look to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Isaiah 30:21.
