A private, co-educational university located in Abilene, Texas, a leading education center in west Texas with a metropolitan population of 133,000. Established in 1891 and affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas since 1941, ninety-six percent of Hardin-Simmons University's student body is from Texas, with the rest being a diverse group from twenty-four states and five foreign countries.
