More From Your Counselor:
Hi, I’m Alyssa Rasco, and I’m the admissions consultant for
transfer students. I came to Hardin-Simmons in the fall of 2008, and I
graduated in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a minor in
Biblical Languages.
Soon after arriving in Abilene, this West Texas town became
home. I met a wonderful group of friends here, including my husband Logan.
Abilene is the perfect setting to find a good church community and get
involved, and there’s always something to do on campus or in town.
My education at Hardin-Simmons has changed my life and
opened my eyes to new perspectives. A liberal arts university like HSU teaches
you to think critically and beyond just the facts, which carries over to “real”
life after you graduate. I was able to develop meaningful relationships and
camaraderie with my professors, which is a privilege many other universities do
not offer. Since this education was also “enlightened by faith,” I was also
able to develop myself spiritually during the formative years that I was a student
through community service and classes on biblical studies, theology and
spiritual formation. I am so thankful that I chose HSU for my undergraduate
degree, because it helped transition me to adulthood in a way that other colleges
would not take the time or effort to do.
I loved spending my undergraduate years at Hardin-Simmons
University and would love to help you get here in whatever way I can. Give me a
call or email me if you have any questions, or come see HSU for yourself to get
a feel for campus—it’s beautiful and worth a visit!
