As the Admission Counselor for Dallas, North Texas, East Texas, Houston, and Out-Of-State regions, I have the opportunity to guide prospective students onto a similar journey that I began a few years ago.
As a senior at Rowlett High School, I searched for a university that would provide a unique, personal learning environment, and would allow me build a co-curricular transcript through organizations and activities. After applying to, and visiting, many universities, I found exactly what I was looking for in Hardin-Simmons University. Prior to my college search, I wasn’t familiar with Abilene and didn’t know any Hardin-Simmons students. The months leading up to my first semester in the fall of 2007, were filled with some anxiety and eager anticipation. Moving away from home and into an unfamiliar environment, I didn’t know what to expect. But, after a few weeks on campus, I immersed myself in all available activities and felt confident in my decision to attend Hardin-Simmons. Eight years later, I now know it was one of the best decisions of my life.
During my years as a Hardin-Simmons student, I was involved as a Stampede leader, held several officer positions in Phi Phi Phi social club, participated in more than 5 theater productions, and served as President of the 2011 Senior Class. My involvement in these activities assisted in creating lifelong relationships and experiences that shaped me academically, spiritually, and personally. Not only did Hardin-Simmons provide me with an unbeatable education in the Kelley College of Business, but I was equipped with skills that prepared me for the future. It truly was, and continues to be, a huge blessing to my life.
I enjoyed the time I spent on the Forty Acres so much, that I wasn’t ready to leave! I am excited to give back to the university that gave so much to me, and I look forward to assisting you with your college decisions. I truly believe the Hardin-Simmons experience can have a lifelong impact on a student, and I am excited to show you how it can change your life.
