POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Hardin-Simmons University, an institution affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Counseling and Human Development. The University, which is located in the city of Abilene, Texas, one hundred and fifty miles west of Ft. Worth, was founded in 1891 and currently enrolls approximately 2400 students. A part of HSU’s Irvin School of Education, the Department of Counseling and Human Development offers a 48 graduate semester hour Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Development. Designed to fulfill all academic and practicum requirements of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, the program also prepares individuals who hold appropriate teacher certification to qualify subsequently for school counselor certification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate in Counselor Education or Counseling Psychology
Evidence of instructional effectiveness, preferably at the graduate level
Licensed Professional Counselor or eligibility for the Texas LPC credential
Membership in related professional organizations such as the American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy, others
Christian who will be supportive of the mission of Hardin-Simmons University
POSITION
Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, graduate courses in counseling theories, life span, family systems, career counseling, assessment, and research.
Regular teaching load for a full time faculty member is 12 semester hours per long semester. Summer school teaching may be required for additional overload pay.
Additional responsibilities may include student advisement, recruiting, service to the university and community, ongoing graduate program assessment, and managing testing supplies.
