BENEFITS FOR EMPLOYEES--Casual Dress CodeDress and Personal Appearance (HSU Casual Friday)
President Turner has approved "HSU Casual Friday" for employees. Casual Friday is similar to the dress code that we enjoyed over the summer months except that it will only be on Fridays during the academic year and includes the opportunity to wear HSU colors and logos.
While allowing for comfortable attire, good taste is expected and required on HSU Casual Friday. Some of the basics are defined below. However, if you have questions, please contact your supervisor.
Policy: It is the policy of HSU that each employee's dress, grooming, and personal hygiene should be appropriate to the work situation. The image portrayed should be one of professionalism. This means that neatness and good taste in appearance is required of all personnel regardless of work area.
On each Friday of the current academic year, the guidelines for HSU Casual Friday are:
o Shirts and tops must have either a distinctive HSU logo or be HSU colors. (Typical shirts and tops as described below are found in the HSU Bookstore.)
o No jeans; however, denim dresses, jumpers and skirts are acceptable.
o No tennis, athletic shoes, or flip flop sandals may be worn.
o No T-shirts (HSU or otherwise), sweatshirts, or athletic wear may be worn.
o No shorts, skorts (split skirts), or extremely short skirts are allowed.
o No leggings, stirrup pants, tight pants, or sweat pants may be worn.
o Casual dress for men includes shirts with collars (without a tie) and slacks like dockers. Also, men must wear socks.
o Blouses, tops, and shirts must be of sufficient length to cover the beltline.
o Casual dress does not include sweat pants/shirts, wind suits, stretch pants, or capri pants.
The HSU Casual Friday dress is optional. Anyone who does not participate should wear their normal professional clothing. Also, please remember that the President, Vice Presidents, and supervisors may occasionally adjust the HSU Casual Friday if necessary.Questions concerning this policy may be referred to the Human Resources Office.
