School of Music and Fine Arts

In an initiative to share common resources and disciplines, HSU trustees voted to combine its theatre and visual arts departments with the School of Music as the School of Music and Fine Arts.

Both the theatre and visual arts departments were previously under the direction of the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts. Mr. Lawson Hager, dean of the former School of Music, continues as dean of the newly realigned school. The move only affects five permanent faculty members but will enhance the efficiency of the HSU arts community and improve the lines of communication on joint creative projects.

Students should not see a change in curriculum or degree requirements in the near future; however, the details of unification may take some time as the administration proceeds methodically with the process.
