Leadership students begin their program by enrolling in the "Foundations of Leadership Studies" course. Once Foundations is completed, students may enroll in any other leadership course. In some cases, Foundations may be taken as a co-requisite during the same semester as another leadership course.

Students wanting to take leadership courses as electives should also enroll in the Foundations of Leadership Studies course first--or have already completed the Introduction to Management course through the College of Business.

Students must take "Christian Ethics for Leaders" during their time in the program and "Leadership Seminar" during their last semester in the program. In addition, students choose 12 hours of LDSP elective courses to fulfill the 21 semester-hours required for the minor. To aid in your scheduling, the program director can inform you of the special topics and workshops courses scheduled for upcoming semesters.

As a sign of its commitment to the development of Christian leaders, HSU offers a limited number of scholarships to students pursuing a minor in Leadership Studies. Scholarships are awarded in the spring of each year on a competitive basis and may be renewed for up to four years. Scholarships carry with them high expectations for leadership in the classroom, on campus, at church, and in the community. Scholarship recipients must be active in the program throughout their time at HSU.
